Sali gets something right
In the give credit where credit is due department, Bill Sali is offering to pay up to $4,500 for police costs associated with VP Cheney's visit. He apparently did so with little or no prompting, so good for him. The picture shows 23 law enforcement motorcycles lined up in the shade awaiting the arrival of VP Cheney. I was on Gowen Field, where Cheney landed, and this was as close as I could get. I drove by, stopped to snap this picture, and before I was done an Air Cop had pulled up to run me off. This was over an hour before the VP was scheduled to touch down. I wanted to take a picture of the huge red, white and blue helicopter that was idling, also awaiting the Veep's arrival, but the cop wouldn't let me. Too big a security risk.

I agree. I like to give credit where credit is due, and Sali is doing the right thing here.
I wonder if the event even covered these costs...
