The Statesman reports that the Boise County prosecutor will not prosecute the two clowns who left Jennifer Burkey to die in the snow.
The Statesman also reports the Burkey had meth in her system. That's sad because it tarnishes her memory, and because prosecutor Timothy Fleming
also said methamphetamine use likely contributed to the series of bad decisions the trio made during their ordeal.This sounds to me like the prosecutor is kind of shrugging this off. "Eh, she was on meth, they made poor decisions, whattya gonna do?"
It also raises questions about the investigation. Meth in her system; was there meth in the car, or paraphernalia? Seems like the guys got away with something criminal.

I think it is a tragedy that the guys are not held responsible for anything. It is also a tragedy that the prosecutor is focusing on the meth in her system and nothing else.
Jennifer is deeply missed by her family and friends. We will remember her smile, and the wonderful person she was, NOT all the negativity that surrounded her untimely death.
Judging by the picture, she did have a nice smile. It seems to be such a senseless, needless tragedy. I'm sorry for your loss.
I saw on another news posting that she was found about 1/5 of a mile from the vehicle. Very sad story. My heart goes out to her family. I wish some sort of charge could have been filed against the two moronic men that survived.
It is such a sad world when someone who is suppose to care about you will just leave you to freeze to death. Hypothermia is a very painful way to die. The two men may not have gotten charged with anything, but I hope someday they will be held accountable for the actions they took.

Would YOU have assumed she would die of the cold weather if YOU had just been exposed to the same elements and YOU were not dead?
Do YOU think YOU would have had the mental capacity to ponder all the "who, how, why, when, where, what if's" if YOU had also been exposed to these now obvious, deadly conditions?
Do YOU think they would do things different if they could go back?
Do YOU think that these guys aren't everwhelmed with feelings of remorse, guilt, and sorry?
Would YOU feel better knowing that they are?

But YOU already knew this, right?
JENNIFER IS DEAD.

jennifer was my best friend, i talked to her one hour before she went "hunting" she said nothing about hunting and i know that the only reason she was dating ash is because she wanted someone desperatly to love her, and he got her into drugs and took advantage of her, she would want people to know that she was a good kid and he ruined her life.
oh yeah... i have proof jen didnt want to do it anymore, and if i didnt love jen so much i would have him put in jail for a long time for other reasons... but i have decided to hold on to that proof for a minute and ash better be damn glad.
wow.. It's been over a year and i'm just now reading this..I can't believe some of you people. I know ash very well and knew jen very well, I lived with ash as a roommate for 2 years.. Jen loved him, i don't believe that you, her so called best friend have any idea what you are talking about. And ash loved her back an NO you do not have proof of anything..I know if my "BEST FRIEND" died and i had some kind of "PROOF" it was no accident, showing that "PROOF" to the authorities would be my first move..So why don't we all just realised that we need to leave Jen to rest in piece, and Joe and Ash couldn't have possibly done anything to change what happened.. I know from experience being exposed to the elements, and all you want to do is not move, you CAN'T think clearly, wheather you are on meth or not..which brings me to the fact that Ash didn't ruin Jen's life, if she didn't want to do it she wouldn't have!
Jennifer was a beautiful and wonderful person and this was a tragic and unfortunate event. I am deeply saddened by this but will not let it taint my memories of her. I will always remember her smile and loving spirit and this 'sad follow up' will not outweigh the beautiful, precious time I spent with her.
Jennifer, she was a great friend. I remember talking to her on the phone for hours. She was just a lively person, she was full of smiles, and she's a charming person. I just heard about this tragedy and I am really struck by it. There is no word that can explain this feeling, feeling of a loss. Let's not bring the negativity but we should remember her from the good things that she had shared with us in this world. Jennifer, I know you're in a better place now! Someday we will meet again!

Joseph Dobyns fled and has been living in Portland oregon where he is on probation for public affray. I know him personally and I can see how this person would be capable of leaving her behind to save himself. He is an ass to the women that he dates now. He will forever be haunted by the day he didn't help save a friend. He is on fb under Joe Dobyns..
i just met joseph Dobyns, here in portland. So i googled his name ... any past girlfriends know anything else that i need to know... before i pass judgement ?
