KTVB is reporting that Gov Risch has "mobilized" the National Guard to fight fires. At this point, no one has been involuntarily put on orders. The 20 or 30 soldiers who will be helping are all volunteers. Also, doubtful that the soldiers will be fighting fires. More likely they'll be in support roles to free up other resources, kind of like the southern border mission.
In previous years, the Guard conducted mostly transportation missions, bringing firefighters up and down the mountain.
If the fires grow in size or numbers, we might see more Guard on state active duty, being paid by the state. Nothing has been federalized yet. It's all state money.
