John Evans

I was looking around the Federal Election Commission site and saw the former Governor John Evans still files for his senate campaign. I don't remember when he ran for senate, but he's been faithfully filing a campaign report each year.

Since at least 2001, he's had a balance of between $57,000 and $59,000. It fluctuates from year to year, depending on his generosity. Most of the income is from interest earned, around $1,900 annually.

He doles that out primarily to Dem candidates; some state, some national. He's given to Jim Hansen, Clint Stennett, Bert Marley, Friends of Hillary, Ada County Dems, Dem National Committee, and lots of others, usually in the $100 range.

I also saw postage expense, and a computer. No haircuts, meals or travel.

Hi Alan. Thanks for your blog. Just wanted to say that last year, after 15 years or so with Bank of America, I intentionally switched my accounts to the DL Evans Bank for this exact reason:

Gov. Evans supports Democrats!

That, and there's a branch exactly three blocks from my house.

Big John,

What sweet memories of overriding his veto of Idaho's Right to Work law...then successfully defending it on the November ballot... exactly 20 years ago this fall.

Time flies when you're having fun!
