Wingnut Politics

Thanks to Bryan Fischer at the Idaho Values Alliance for linking to this Legislative Contact Form, which you can use to send an email to all members of the State Affairs Comittee. I visited the IVA site and saw the link.

Fisher is asking everyone to send email asking the legislature to pass and move along the bill restricting court jurisdiction over religion (SJM 119). So, I clicked his link and sent the form, asking the committee NOT to pass the resolution.

We have a system of checks and balances among the three co-equal branches. If the courts get emasculated, individual liberty will suffer. As Justice Sandra Day O'Conner said last week, the courts are under assault from the right, but the courts are essential to prevent dictatorship and the assault should be stopped.

The bill passed committee and went to the floor. It was pretty much a party line vote, though a couple of Dems did support it. Wingnut politics succeeding at the Idaho Legislature.
